A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a legal assistant to support the Dispute Resolution department in their day-to-day duties on a full-time basis at our Brighton/Hove office.
The role will be working with the very busy Landlord and Tenant sub-team and you will be an integral part of the team from day one.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- To ensure information, documents and correspondence relating to cases are processed quickly and accurately as directed by fee earners
- To attend to clients both on the telephone and in person, ensuring accurate messages are passed on without unnecessary delay
- Typing up letters and dealing with tasks provided through our dictation system as part of these duties
- To make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain an up-to-date diary for the fee earners
- Drafting routine letters and documents, e.g. cost update letters to client, applying for identity documents, dealing with file opening and handling administrative tasks, etc.
- Keeping track of land registry applications and applying for land registry documents and monitoring the same
- Monitoring client ledgers, paying invoices, billing, maintaining costs information
- Preparing bundles and organising files on case management systems
- Photocopying and filing
- File opening and client care matters including AML requirements
- Paying invoices and monitoring finances
The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail complimented with the ability to manage multiple activities. You will be organised and methodical with a can-do attitude.
You will be able to evidence good interpersonal skills as you will be liaising with clients on a regular basis. An essential criterion is good working knowledge of IT systems, a good typing speed would be beneficial. Understanding our regulatory framework would be an advantage.
