Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced MET Technician / Mechanic to join our busy accident repair centre.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician to join a professional team, working on a wide range of modern vehicles using the latest repair methods, equipment and technology.
The Role
As an MET Technician / Mechanic, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient removal, repair, replacement and refitting of mechanical, electrical and trim components, including steering and suspension systems, on accident-damaged vehicles.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out mechanical, electrical and trim (MET) repairs to a high standard.
- Removing and refitting mechanical and electrical components.
- Carrying out vehicle strip and refit work following accident damage.
- Inspecting, removing and replacing steering and suspension components.
- Carrying out four-wheel alignment and steering geometry checks and adjustments.
- Checking suspension, steering and associated components for damage, wear and correct operation.
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults where required.
- Ensuring steering and suspension systems are correctly aligned following accident repairs.
- Ensuring vehicles are repaired in accordance with manufacturer repair methods and technical specifications.
- Working closely with Panel Technicians, Paint Technicians, Estimators and Workshop Controllers to ensure vehicles are completed efficiently.
- Carrying out quality checks on completed work.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
- Working efficiently to meet agreed repair times and quality standards.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as an MET Technician, Mechanic or Vehicle Technician, preferably within an accident repair environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
- Experience with steering and suspension systems.
- Experience carrying out four-wheel alignment and steering geometry adjustments.
- Experience with strip and refit work on modern vehicles.
- The ability to diagnose faults and identify appropriate repair methods.
- A good understanding of vehicle repair processes and manufacturer standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a busy workshop team.
- A positive, reliable and professional approach to work.
- A full UK driving licence.
ATA accreditation or relevant industry qualifications would be advantageous, but experience and the right attitude are equally important.
