Adults with Learning Disability - Residential Care/Supported Living
Job Overview -_ this is a permanent full time role. Driver required to cover shifts in our other homes efficiently and able to reach destinations easily and quickly.
Our ideal candidate will be a clear communicator with a great command of the English language, calm under pressure, proactive, caring and have the ability to lead by example. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team and the successful candidate will play a vital role in providing personalised support to Adults with Learning Disabilities, helping them to develop essential life skills and achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will be based in Whitworth, Rochdale and will be flexible to cover shifts in our other residential and supported living homes as and when required with the opportunity of sleep in's so there are lots of overtime if and when needed.
Ideally, you will be working within a similar role supporting adults with complex behaviours or within the Care/ Education Sector working with Autism, ADHD, Adults with LD or Aged, Young Adults LD or Autism, Teaching background working with , SEN, Challenging Behaviour, Positive Behaviour Support or may have a Sports, Arts, Chef, Crafts background/experience - we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times
- Maintain accurate records of support provided and progress made
- Work closely with families, carers, and other professionals to ensure consistent support plans are followed
- Offer personalised support tailored to each individual’s needs, promoting their well-being and development
- Assist with daily activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
- Support individuals in engaging with community activities and socialising opportunities
- Mentoring individuals to build confidence, resilience, and independence
Skills
- Experience or interest in working with vulnerable adults
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to teach new skills in a patient and encouraging manner
- Organised with good time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to support others’ development
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of individuals supported
