About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, professional, and reliable Funeral Operative to join our dedicated team. This role is central to providing dignified care to the deceased and exceptional support to bereaved families during some of the most important moments of their lives.
The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of funeral operations, including the care and transportation of the deceased, preparation for funeral services, and support during funerals and related ceremonies.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out the respectful transfer and transportation of the deceased from homes, hospitals, care facilities, and other locations.
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of the deceased in accordance with company procedures and family wishes.
- Support funeral services as a bearer, driver, or funeral attendant.
- Maintain funeral vehicles, equipment, and premises to a high standard.
- Ensure all activities are conducted with dignity, professionalism, and sensitivity.
- Participate in an on-call rota to provide out-of-hours removal services.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in compliance with legal and company requirements.
- Work closely with funeral directors and other team members to ensure smooth delivery of services.
Candidate Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in sensitive situations.
- Good level of physical fitness, including the ability to lift and carry safely as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and high standards of personal presentation.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in an on-call rota.
- Previous experience within the funeral profession is preferable.
