About Green Civils
Wigan-based civil engineering contractor specialising in groundworks for the green energy sector — EV charging, battery storage (BESS), solar PV, and HV/LV cable pulling.
We are NERS accredited, assessed by LRQA. That matters to you for three reasons: it means we work directly for ICPs and DNO-facing clients on live network schemes, it means our competency, training and site records are audited to a national standard, and it means the right people get formal NERS authorisation and a passport that follows them for the rest of their career.
13-strong team, all directly employed PAYE — no agency, no CIS bodyshop. Expanding to five full gangs through 2026/27 as we onboard new clients across the North-West, Yorkshire, Midlands, North Wales and increasingly the South.
The Role
Hands-on working supervisor running a 3–4 operative civils gang on EV, BESS and solar infrastructure groundworks UK-wide. You lead the day-to-day, hold the line on safety and quality, and own the paperwork and as-built records.
There is a genuine route into Site Supervisor or Delivery Manager as we scale. We've got the work to back that up.
Typical Work
- Hand and machine excavation (hard and soft dig)
- Electrical ducting, HV/LV containment, cable pulling and jointing support
- Concrete plinths, bases, edgings and kerbs to spec
- Reinstatement: paving, tarmac, concrete, fencing, landscaping
- As-laid drawings with accurate measurements and fixed reference points
- Daily records via SafetyCulture — we run paperless
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a 3–4 operative gang
- Read and interpret drawings accurately
- Deliver daily toolbox talks and POWRAs, enforce H&S compliance
- Hit spec, quality and programme
- Daily site photos, reports and management updates
- Submit as-laid drawings and completion documentation
- Uphold the Green Civils drug and alcohol policy
Essential
- 3+ years proven experience leading small civils / groundworks gangs
- Valid CSCS card
- CAT & Genny
- NRSWA Streetworks — physical SWQR card carried on site, non-negotiable
- Full UK driving licence
- Genuinely able and willing to work away Mon–Fri
Advantageous
- SSSTS or SMSTS
- NPORS or CPCS — 360 excavator, dumper, roller
- SHEA Power, slinger/signaller, winch ticket
- First aid
- Previous DNO, ICP or NERS-scheme experience

Screening
