Trainee HGV Driver
Do you dream of driving an HGV? If so, we have an opportunity that’s right up your street. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who can learn and assist our yard operations.
During the first 6 months you will be in the yard getting to know our business and products. The role will then progress to driving our van, completing deliveries and getting to know this aspect of the company. You will then commence your training as a Class 2 Driver and once passed join our ever growing fleet!
Country Supplies will invest in you and support training with a national driving school, your relevant licences, Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Qualification and Medicals.
About Us
We sell and deliver landscaping supplies, using HGV's with either a HIAB or a vehicle mounted forklift truck, within a radius of approximately 60 miles of High Wycombe, although we strive to go further on occasion. We are a family business that has continued to grow over the last 30 years, due to its committed and hard working staff. Every employee is an essential part of the chain from when an order is placed to when it is delivered and we continue to strive to show recognition, as well as appreciation for this. We now need to find further determined and reliable additions to our existing team of highly skilled drivers, who can become equally able to help us to continue our success.
To become eligible for this role you will require –
- A full clean UK driving licence
- Be over 21 - for insurance purposes
This is a fantastic opportunity to invest in your career and develop into a professional driver. This role is open to all however you must be able to work in our Yard Operation for 6 months and the duration of your training.
Pay will be reviewed once you are a qualified HGV Driver.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure stock inwards accurately corresponds to the delivery ticket.
- Ensure stock is stored away safely, neatly and in the correct location.
- Ensure products are picked accurately for delivery schedule or customer collections, including any special items.
- Ensure customer delivery vehicles are loaded correctly, and safely, against the delivery schedule prior to leaving the yard.
- Operate a forklift safely and effectively, ensuring minimum damage to materials; perform daily vehicle safety checks and report faults.
- Assist in keeping the yard clean, neat, safe, secure and operating efficiently.

- 20 days holiday a year, plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after 5 years service

- Hours 7am - 5pm Monday to Friday
- Hours 8am - 12.30pm Every other Saturday

Key Skills & Experience Required
