Company description
No More Digging SW are a regional installer of professional grade ground screws — a fast, low-disturbance alternative to concrete foundations that is being specified on more and more projects. We install across the whole South West, so travel to site in company provided vehicles is part of the job.
Our workshop and storage facility is at Greendale Business Park, where we also pre-fabricate timber bases for some installations. The split is roughly 20% workshop, 80% out on site.
We're a growing company with a steady order book, and we'd rather bring someone in and train them properly than keep hiring in. If you want to learn a trade rather than just turn up and dig, this is a good place to do it.
The role
We're looking for a conscientious, proactive labourer to join our installation teams. You don't need ground screw experience — we'll train you. What we do need is someone who turns up, works hard, thinks for themselves and wants to get good at this.
Day to day you'll be:
- Working as part of a two or three man team installing ground screws on site
- Setting out and measuring from drawings, and checking levels
- Helping build and fit timber and steel bases on top of the screws
- Loading, unloading and looking after the vans, trailers and kit
- Working in our Greendale workshop pre-fabricating bases between site days
For the right person there's a clear route to running your own team and leading installations, with the training and tickets to go with it.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Full UK driving licence
- Physically fit and happy working outdoors year round
- Confident measuring accurately and following a drawing
- Reliable, on time, and able to crack on without being chased
Helpful, but we can teach it:
- Site experience of any kind — groundworks, fencing, decking, landscaping, construction
- Carpentry basics: chop saw, nail gun, impact driver
- Experience with site levelling equipment (laser level, dumpy level)
- Ticket or experience on a 2.7T (or similar) excavator
- Driving LWB panel vans, and towing trailers
- CSCS card
Hours and working pattern
We operate a 4 day working week: Monday to Thursday, 10 hours a day with a 30 minute lunch break — 38 hours a week.
Start times are between 6am and 8am from our Greendale workshop depending on where the job is, so early starts and long days come with the territory.
Fridays are non-working days. Overtime is available on Fridays when we need it, paid at 1.5× after the first 4 hours.
Employed or self-employed
We're open to either:
- Employed (PAYE): hourly rate, holiday, company pension, sick pay, additional leave, and paid training towards your tickets.
- Self-employed (CIS): day rate, invoiced weekly — you'll need to be CIS registered with your own UTR and public liability insurance.
Tell us which you'd prefer when you apply and we'll talk it through.
