Product Designer - with SaaS Experience (UX/UI)
TreeStock - Hybrid/Remote (UK)
Help us design the future of forest intelligence. TreeStock is building a new generation of technology for understanding and managing the world's forests in our rapidly changing climate.
We combine satellite imagery, drone data and proprietary machine-learning models to create a detailed, living picture of forests, down to the individual tree. Our technology helps forest managers, landowners and other organisations understand what is happening in their forests, make better decisions and monitor change over time. We're looking for a Product Designer to join our small, ambitious team and help turn this complex technology into an exceptional, beautifully designed product that can be used by a broad range of non-technical users. Previous SaaS experience is therefore critical to the role.
This is a hands-on role for a designer who enjoys working across UX, UI, interaction design and product thinking and who wants genuine ownership of what they create.
What you'll do:
You'll work closely with our team to take ideas from early exploration through to shipped product features:
- Understanding users, their workflows and the real world problems they're trying to solve
- Turning complex environmental and geospatial data into clear, intuitive experiences
- Designing workflows, information architecture and interaction models
- Creating high-quality UI designs and prototypes in Figma
- Designing data-rich interfaces, dashboards, maps and visualisations
- Working closely with engineers to bring designs to life
- Testing ideas with users and iterating based on what you learn
- Shaping our design system and patterns as the product develops
- Contributing to product decisions, not simply taking briefs
Because we're a small team, you'll have the opportunity to influence what we build as well as how it works.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone with at least 3 years of relevant experience who has developed strong SaaS product design skills.
You'll probably have:
- A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design in a B2B SaaS platform or similarly data-rich software product environment
- Excellent UX and interaction design skills
- High standards of visual and UI craft
- Strong Figma skills
- An ability to make complex information feel simple and understandable
- Experience working closely with developers and product teams
- A curious, analytical approach to design and problem solving
We'd be especially interested if you've worked with:
- Data visualisation
- Maps or geospatial products
- Scientific or technical data
- Analytics or decision-support tools
- Climate, environmental or agricultural technology
We're much more interested in how you think and what you can make than in ticking every box on a job description.
Why TreeStock?
This isn't a role where you'll be responsible for polishing one small part of a huge product. You'll be joining a small team at an early stage, where design has a significant influence on the direction of the company. You'll work directly with the people building the technology and the people who use it. You'll be tackling an unusually interesting design problem: How do you turn millions of data points and complex models into something that helps a person make a better decision about a forest? There's plenty of conventional product design involved but also opportunities to explore new ways of working with spatial data, AI, remote sensing and rich environmental information. And you'll be doing it in service of something that matters: helping people manage trees and forests better in a rapidly changing climate.
The team
We're a small, multidisciplinary team combining expertise in forestry, remote sensing, machine learning, product and design.
We value curiosity, pragmatism and intellectual honesty. We're still figuring things out, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and enjoys shaping things rather than waiting for perfectly defined briefs.
