The Growth Company’s (GC) Marketing Manchester team is seeking an Events Assistant to support the planning, delivery and evaluation of a diverse programme of events that promote Manchester as a leading destination for business, leisure tourism, investment and growth. Working closely with the Senior Event Manager, you will help deliver high-quality events that support Marketing Manchester's objectives and business plan.

We work to raise the profile of the region through targeted marketing campaigns, major events, and strong partnerships. We support the visitor economy by attracting tourists and high-profile conferences, while collaborating with businesses and stakeholders to showcase the region’s unique strengths and opportunities. Through everything we do, we aim to drive economic growth and enhance Manchester’s global reputation.
This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of one day per week based at our Manchester office, Lee House.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Senior Event Manager with the planning, delivery and evaluation of events, providing logistical and administrative support throughout the event lifecycle.
- Assist with the on-site setup, delivery and breakdown of events and activities, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Provide event-day support, including delegate registration, guest list management and directing attendees.
- Liaise with external suppliers to source and procure event services in line with budget and procurement procedures.
- Process purchase orders and payments accurately and in a timely manner using internal finance systems.
- Maintain accurate event records and update information within the CRM database.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to support the successful delivery of the annual events programme.
- Represent Marketing Manchester professionally at events, promoting a positive image of the organisation to stakeholders, clients and delegates.

Skills Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues, partners and delegates.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organisational abilities.
- Ability to manage administrative processes and maintain accurate records.
- Experience working in an office or customer-facing environment is desirable.
- A professional qualification in Marketing, Communications, Events Management or Tourism is desirable.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team whilst maintaining a results-oriented approach.
