Making A Difference as a Commissioning Officer in the All -Age Integrated Commissioning Hub

We have an exciting vacancy for a highly motivated individual who wants to help shape the future of commissioned services for children and young people in St Helens. This is a key role supporting the development of high-quality, sustainable services, with the scope to make a real and lasting difference to outcomes for children, young people and families.
As a Commissioning Officer in the All-Age Commissioning Hub, you will lead and support the commissioning, development and review of services for children and young people. You will work closely with children’s social care, education, health, providers, and other partners to understand need, develop provision, and ensure commissioned services deliver strong outcomes and value for money.
What we are looking for:
- A good understanding of children’s services and the challenges and opportunities facing children, young people and families
- Experience of using data, intelligence and feedback to understand need, identify gaps in provision, and inform service development
- Experience of or a strong commitment to working with children, young people and families and using lived experience to help shape services
- An understanding of early intervention and prevention approaches that improve outcomes and reduce escalation to statutory services
- Strong commissioning skills, from needs assessment and market development through to procurement, contract management, and co-production with children, young people and families
- The ability to build effective partnerships across children’s social care, education, health, providers, and the voluntary and community sector

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level and/or have relevant experience in a commissioning, service development, or related role in children’s services, health, education, social care, or another transferable setting.
