Individual Needs Assistant (Level A/B) Supporting a child who has Neurodiverse needs and Social Communication difficulties.
St Mary’s is a warm and welcoming one form entry primary school on the outskirts of Brighton. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Individual Needs Assistant to join our happy and friendly school in a very rewarding role. You will support a child with individual needs.
This position is for a fixed term as the funding is only for the pupil’s time whilst they attend St Mary’s. Applicants should be aware, as per the terms of an INA or SEND support contract, should the funding situation change during the year, or the pupil leaves school, this role may need to change, or will no longer exist, but there may be other vacancies available. The hours will likely increase as the provision needs of the child increase.
Hours: 5 days per week, 8:50am – 11:30am, 12.30 - 3.10pm term time only
Fixed term: 1 year
Start date: September 2026
About the Role
The successful candidate will:

Have previous experience of supporting a child with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Be a flexible and caring professional
- Be committed to providing the highest possible quality provision for all our children
- Be committed to in-house and external specialist training to support a child with SEND
- Build positive relationships with children, their parents/carers and those they work closely with;
- Be suitably qualified for the post, ie: have good literacy and numeracy skills (to GCSE level or higher);
- Have an optimistic and positive attitude and be flexible to the demands of the job;
- Be able to work as part of a team and;
- Have the ability to maintain confidentiality.
