We're looking for an experienced, caring and reliable Care Assistant to provide dedicated waking night support to a client with complex care needs.
This particular role is supporting one client in their own home, meaning you'll remain in one location for the duration of your shift with no travelling between different clients.
Due to the client's individual needs, previous experience working in care is essential. You'll need to be confident working independently overnight, carrying out hourly checks, responding appropriately to the client's needs and ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing throughout the night.

Location: Weymouth, Dorset
Hours: Permanent – Waking Nights
Shift times: 10:00pm – 8:00am
This is a waking night position, and you will be required to remain awake and alert throughout the shift.
Your Role
As a Waking Night Care Assistant, you'll provide dedicated support to one client with complex care needs, helping them remain safe, comfortable and well supported throughout the night.
Every shift is an opportunity to provide personalised, person-centred care that promotes dignity, choice and wellbeing while giving the client and their family confidence that appropriate support is available throughout the night.
Unlike a traditional domiciliary care role, you'll be supporting one client in one location throughout your shift, with no travelling between different care calls.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out and accurately recording hourly checks throughout the night
- Providing personal care with dignity, compassion and respect
- Supporting mobility and encouraging independence where appropriate
- Responding promptly and appropriately to the client's complex care needs
- Providing reassurance and emotional support
- Monitoring the client's safety, comfort and wellbeing throughout the night
- Recognising and reporting any changes or concerns
- Completing accurate care records
- Following the client's individual care plan and agreed procedures
- Working closely with the wider care team to ensure consistent, high-quality care
Who We're Looking For

- Comfortable providing personal care
- Observant and able to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in needs
- Confident working independently overnight
- Comfortable carrying out regular hourly checks
- Able to remain awake, alert and responsive throughout the entire shift
- Confident working independently while also being part of a wider care team
Previous care experience is essential for this position due to the client's complex care needs and the nature of the waking night support required.
An NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or above is desirable and attracts our enhanced hourly rate of £16.10 per hour.
