About the Role
We're working on behalf of a well-established UK leader in the air conditioning and chilled water marketplace, supporting a wide range of clients across Data Centres, Universities, Hospitals, MoD, Industrial Process Manufacturing, Blue Chip HQs, multi-tenant landlord buildings, schools and retail.
Our client is expanding their technical mobile engineering team and looking for a skilled HVAC & Refrigeration Engineer to join a regional service team, covering water chillers, close control units, split/VRV systems, and central cooling plant across a variety of commercial and industrial sites.
This is a genuinely varied, multi-manufacturer role not tied to a single brand or a single type of site for an engineer who wants breadth and technical variety in their day-to-day work.
What You'll Be Doing
- Service, maintenance and fault-finding on water chillers and central cooling plant, any type, any make
- Air conditioning and refrigeration service across cold rooms, computer suites, splits and VRV/VRF systems
- Close control/RCU/CRAC unit maintenance and fault-finding
- On-site compressor work (reciprocating, screw, centrifugal)
- Refrigerant retrofit and compliance work
- Split and VRV system installation, replacement and upgrade work
- Leading or supervising installation work where required
- Attending planned and reactive call-outs across your regional patch
- Completing accurate, timely job paperwork and communicating findings clearly to clients and office
What We're Looking For
- Level 2 vocational qualification in refrigeration/engineering (or equivalent)
- F-Gas 2079 Category 1 — Safe Handling of Refrigerants
- Solid understanding of refrigeration principles — expansion valves, fan controls, discharge superheat, compressor power, superheat/sub-cooling
- Competent working independently on hot works, brazing, pressure testing, evacuating and charging refrigerant
- Comfortable working on splits/VRV systems and basic chillers
- Willingness to travel within your regional patch and to occasionally participate in an on-call rota
- A team player who can support junior engineers with product and site knowledge

- Full-time, permanent PAYE contract — 40 hours/week (8am–5pm Mon–Fri)
- Overtime paid at x1.5, Sundays/bank holidays at x2.0 with day off in lieu

- On-call allowance of £153 per full standby week (typically 1 in 10 weeks), plus overtime for any site attendance
