To assist the House Technician in the day to day business of all the technical aspects of the shows at KGH and DLT split between the two sites, the Assistant Technician will ensure all sound and light is set up correctly and safely. Ensuring all equipment is at the correct level for each event and that all practises are completed safely.
Other aspects of the role are:
- To assist the House Technician in providing an effective technical and production service to the complex.
- To contribute as a member of the BWD Venues staff with the intention of providing an efficient technical service.
- To adhere to current methods of work and suggest improvements for efficiency or safety.
- To ensure that all technical and production requirements are completed on time. To plan, book staff, resources and equipment and ensure the safe use of such equipment to meet the needs of the relevant events.
- To be able to organize the technical section into an orderly and coherent working space and maintain this during all events.
- To have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a theatre or conference center with outside festival sound and light experience.Must have a good working knowledge of sound and light with full competency using Sound Craft Si Expression 3 sound desk,Avolites Pearl Expert – Moving Lights,Avolites Expert Touch lighting desks.
- Must be able to attend relevant training courses on safety.
- To be able to rig and de-rig audio visual equipment in the conference and seminar area as well as shows and entertainment across both DLT and KGH
- To be able to operate technical equipment, sound and lighting, trusses, motors and provide technical support to events within the complex and also be able to work unsupervised and on own initiative. To be able to identify any faults and repair as necessary
- To be able to confidently oversee any visiting crew and supervise casual crew and free-lance technicians ensuring they all adhere to safe working practices, report any accidents or near misses and prevent any future incidents. To confidently intervene and report incidents to the Technical Manager or other senior manager.
- To be able to competently read and interpret lighting and sound plans and instructions both written and verbally.
You must have the ability to work unsociable hours which includes early mornings, late evenings and weekends. The ability to drive would be useful as the role is split over 2 sites.
