Job Summary
We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our team on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover. This is a great opportunity for an RVN looking for a role offering a good work-life balance, with flexibility around working hours. We're happy to consider applications from candidates looking to work between 20 and 30 hours per week and can discuss how these hours are structured to suit both the successful candidate and the needs of the practice.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during consultations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures with confidence and precision
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate record-keeping
- Support laboratory work by collecting samples, preparing specimens, and performing basic diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis
- Provide compassionate pre- and post-operative care, monitoring anaesthesia and recovery processes
- Educate clients on pet health, nutrition, and preventative care to promote responsible pet ownership
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of clinical areas and equipment in accordance with health and safety standards
- Support the team with administrative tasks such as updating patient records, scheduling appointments, and managing inventory
Experience
- Proven veterinary nursing experience in a busy practice setting with a strong understanding of clinical procedures
- Laboratory experience including sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostic testing is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with clients, colleagues, and external laboratories, in a friendly and professional manner
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to animal welfare and professional development within the veterinary field
