About the Role
At Axelerate Technology and Commercial Services, we support complex construction and commercial projects through structured planning, strong stakeholder coordination and disciplined project delivery.
We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our Birmingham team. You will take responsibility for managing projects from pre-construction and mobilisation through delivery, handover and close-out, ensuring that programme, cost, quality and safety objectives are achieved.
This role is suited to a project professional who is comfortable coordinating contractors, consultants and clients while maintaining clear control over programme, commercial performance and project risk.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery: Manage construction projects through planning, procurement, mobilisation, construction, commissioning and handover.
Programme Management: Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, track progress and implement recovery actions where required.
Contractor Coordination: Manage principal contractors, subcontractors and specialist suppliers to ensure work is completed in line with agreed requirements.
Budget Control: Work with commercial and finance teams to monitor project expenditure, forecasts, variations and cost risks.
Design Coordination: Coordinate architects, engineers and technical consultants to ensure design information is delivered in line with the construction programme.
Risk Management: Maintain project risk registers, identify emerging issues and implement mitigation actions.
Quality Management: Ensure construction activities meet agreed specifications, standards and client expectations.
Health and Safety: Promote safe project delivery and ensure contractors operate in line with relevant UK health and safety requirements.
Stakeholder Management: Maintain clear communication with clients, consultants, contractors, internal teams and other project stakeholders.
Reporting: Prepare regular project updates covering programme, cost, quality, risk, procurement and key decisions.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Ideally 5–8 years of experience in construction project management, including responsibility for delivering medium-to-large projects.
Project Management: Strong understanding of construction programmes, procurement, contractor management, design coordination and project controls.
Commercial Awareness: Ability to understand budgets, variations, forecasting and the commercial implications of project decisions.
Construction Knowledge: Good understanding of construction methods, site operations and project sequencing.
Leadership: Confidence coordinating multidisciplinary teams and maintaining accountability across contractors and consultants.
Problem Solving: Ability to respond quickly to programme, technical or commercial issues and develop practical solutions.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present project information clearly.
Organisation: Ability to manage several priorities, deadlines and workstreams while maintaining accurate project documentation.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering commercial, industrial, office or mixed-use projects.
- Knowledge of JCT, NEC or other commonly used UK construction contracts.
- Experience with pre-construction planning and procurement.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 or similar planning software.
- Experience managing design-and-build projects.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction health and safety requirements.
- Experience preparing project dashboards and executive reports.
- Membership of APM, CIOB, RICS or another relevant professional body.
- Experience managing contractors across multiple work packages.
You do not need to meet every desirable requirement. If you have strong construction project-management experience and a track record of delivering projects safely, commercially and on programme, we would be interested in hearing from you.
