Job Title: Programme Coordinator (Public Speaking Challenge)
Location: Bristol and the wider region (remote work when not on activities). A full driving licence and own vehicle is essential for this role.
Salary: £27k rising to £29k per annum with experience
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed-term to end July 2027
Note: the charity does not operate from an office. Approx. 3-4 days per week will require travel to various schools and venues in the region to facilitate activities, with the remainder of time operating from home. Mileage paid at £0.55 per mile. Unfortunately, using public transport for this role is not feasible and applicants should therefore have a full driving licence and own vehicle.

Role Overview:
The ‘Speak with Spark’ Programme is a new and exciting development for SBY. The Programme Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the successful coordination and delivery of the programme, in collaboration with other members of the SBY team. Specifically, the role holder would be required to co-deliver a workshop, training young people to structure and deliver a speech. The role would therefore be suited to applicants with a background in, e.g. drama/performing arts, English Language, etc. The role involves working directly with young people (predominantly secondary-aged, but flexibility to work with younger children would be useful), schools, and a wide range of partners to ensure smooth and effective programme operations. The Programme Coordinator will also support other SBY programmes as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and Mentorship: Provide public speaking coaching and support to students involved in the ‘Speak with Spark’ programme and mentoring and support to other students involved in SBY programmes.
- Programme Delivery: Collaborate with other SBY staff to deliver our educational programmes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with school staff, parents, and community partners.
- Event Management: Organise and manage events aimed at increasing parental and community engagement.
- Programme Evaluation: Gather feedback, conduct evaluations, and contribute to interim and final reports.
Duties Include:
- Supporting and motivating students to achieve their potential.
- Encouraging parental and school engagement and participation in SBY events.
- Coordinating schedules, risk assessments, and relevant information for programme activities.
- Maintaining comprehensive records of programme evaluations.
- Ensuring compliance with policies on child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Developing qualitative and quantitative reports.
- Promoting equal opportunities and supporting diversity within the programmes.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential/Preferred (E/P)
Qualifications:
- Level 3 education (E); Degree or equivalent experience (P).
- Recent graduates considered.
Experience:
- Experience of working with children and young people (P).
- Some experience in a school or other educational setting (P).
- Experience of coordinating projects (E).

- Ability to structure and deliver a speech and demonstrate this to students.
