Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior PWP (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner) to lead on the management, development and delivery by PWPs. The post holder will be an engaging leader and will support a team of PWP staff and trainees; providing clinical guidance, clinical skills, supervision and case management to enhance their experience at work and contribute towards their professional development.
Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based NHS Talking Therapy PWP interventions through carrying a reduced caseload.
- Develop, support and train innovative practice to NHS Talking Therapy Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.
- Ensure project deliverables are met and monitor performance of the service.
- Provide regular case management supervision to Low intensity workers.
- Manage and supervise the NHS Talking Therapy PWP and triage team to ensure the smooth running and quality of the service.
- Working as part of a clinical and management team to support and initiate ethical and professional standards including training, reporting and attending clinically oriented programmes.
- To set and maintain standards of care in clinical triage and deploy, co-ordinate and supervise/support a team of PWP staff, triage and trainees across the service to maintain effective and timely response to new referrals.
- To provide leadership and management to a team and support staff covering the triage function.
- To be responsible for the team's maintenance of client and other records.
- Become a PWP champion.
- To participate in the development of protocols and pathways to support self-management, standardisation of clinical practice, and efficient use of resources.
- To provide advice, support and guidance to team members.
- To demonstrate discretion and respect when communicating with patients, colleagues and other agencies.
- Manage and support the triage team and make sure the allocations are in the right pathway.
- To communicate effectively with the team.
- Lead and advise on the complex assessment of a client’s condition.
- Identify the most appropriate pathway through advanced knowledge of clinical pathways.
- Use expert clinical reasoning and knowledge of evidenced-based practice to inform complex triage and case intervention.
- Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
- Undertake patient-centred interviews to identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
- Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the service’s referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.
- Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
- Supporting the team to make sure all information on agreed databases are input properly.
- Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating body and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
- Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.
- Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuing Professional Development and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date.
- Attend relevant conferences/workshops/Meetings in line with identified professional objectives.
- Contribute to the development of best practice within the service.
Experience/Qualifications
- Qualification from PWP Training Course (Post Graduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course) or an experienced and qualified graduate mental health worker with an NHS Talking Therapy related qualification.
- At least two years NHS Talking Therapy experience.
- Experience of working as a psychological wellbeing practitioner / graduate mental health worker in a primary care setting.
- Experience of routine outcome monitoring.
- Evidence of personal development.
- Able to manage the team.
- Experience in working with suicidal clients and risk management.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of the IAPTUS system.
Additional Info
- Full time 37.5 hours per week
- 3 days will be supervision and 2 days will be delivering.
- 3 days on site/office/2 days remote
- Office base is Nechells/Moseley (and any other location as agreed)

*Although this is a fixed term contract for 12 months, this can be reviewed at the end of the contract date.*
Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
