What you’ll need
As a Casual Strength & Conditioning Coach, you will play an important role in supporting the development of athletes across Wales. Working with identified athletes, coaches and National Governing Bodies (NGBs), you will design, deliver and evaluate science-informed strength and conditioning programmes that enhance performance, support long-term athletic development and reduce the risk of injury.
You'll work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to ensure physical preparation is integrated with coaching and wider athlete support. Through your coaching expertise, you'll help athletes develop the physical qualities needed to perform at their best while contributing to a positive, athlete-centred performance environment.
Alongside direct athlete support, you'll maintain accurate records of your work, contribute to the continuous improvement of our services and ensure your practice aligns with the professional standards of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) and the strategic ambitions of Sport Wales.
How you’ll contribute
You'll use your strength and conditioning expertise to help developing athletes build the physical qualities needed to perform at their best while reducing the risk of injury. Working alongside coaches and multidisciplinary practitioners, you'll translate assessment data into practical, evidence-informed training programmes that support long-term athlete development.
You'll build strong relationships with athletes, coaches and National Governing Bodies, adapting your coaching to meet the needs of different sports, environments and stages of development. You'll contribute to the Welsh performance system by sharing knowledge, maintaining high professional standards and ensuring accurate records that support effective athlete care.
Who you’ll work with
You'll be part of the Sport Wales Institute's Athletic Development theme, working alongside experienced Strength & Conditioning coaches and a multidisciplinary team of sport science and sports medicine practitioners.
You will collaborate closely with coaches, athletes, parents, medical practitioners and National Governing Bodies to provide coordinated, high-quality support that meets the needs of developing athletes. You'll also have opportunities to engage with colleagues across Sport Wales and the wider Home Country Sports Institute (HCSI) network, sharing knowledge and contributing to the continual development of our services.
