School of Play MCR | £12.75–£25.50 per hour | Part-Time | Monday–Friday, 2:30pm–4:30pm
Are you a confident, adaptable coach who enjoys variety and working with children?
Are you someone who can confidently deliver a range of sports and activities and isn't afraid to try something different?
School of Play MCR is looking for a Flex Coach to join our growing team.
This is a varied and exciting role for someone who is confident across different sports and activities and enjoys working as part of a team.
As a Flex Coach, you will regularly co-coach and deliver a range of sessions across our schools. You may be working on football one day, dodgeball the next, and then supporting a dance, gymnastics or drama session.
You won't be expected to be a specialist in every activity. What we're looking for is someone who is confident, adaptable and willing to get stuck in, with the ability to take on different sessions and environments.
The role also requires flexibility, as you may occasionally be moved to a different school or session at short notice to support the needs of the team.
Important – Driving Requirement
A full UK driving licence and access to your own reliable car are essential for this role.
You will be required to travel between different school sites, sometimes at short notice, so you must be able to travel independently and reliably.
Hours
Monday–Friday, 2:30pm–4:30pm
We are looking for someone who can offer reliable availability across multiple weekdays.
The role will involve working across different schools and sessions, so flexibility is essential.
Your session or location may occasionally change at short notice depending on the needs of our provision.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Flex Coach, you will:
- Co-coach alongside other School of Play coaches and solo coach
- Deliver and support a wide range of sports, PE and enrichment activities
- Take ownership of sessions and confidently lead activities when required
- Work across different schools and settings
- Support a variety of coaches and teams
- Adapt activities to suit different ages, abilities and additional needs
- Move between different sessions when required
- Respond positively to last-minute changes and staffing requirements
- Create fun, engaging and inclusive experiences for children
- Manage groups of children confidently and positively
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children
- Follow safeguarding procedures and complete dynamic risk assessments

You may be involved in delivering or supporting:
- Football
- Dodgeball
- Basketball

You do not need to be a specialist in every area.
We are looking for someone with a strong skill set in their own area who is confident enough to work across different activities.
For example, you might be an experienced football coach who is also comfortable delivering dodgeball and basketball.
You might have a gymnastics or dance background but be confident supporting sports sessions.
Your ability to adapt and confidently deliver a great session is more important than having specialist qualifications in every activity.

- Comfortable working outside of their main area of expertise
- Confident managing groups of children
- Adaptable and able to think on their feet
