Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly proactive Workshop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy fabrication workshop. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, hands-on people skills, and the ability to manage production efficiently while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Duties
- Manage daily workshop operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Supervise and coordinate a team of fabricators, welders, and workshop staff
- Read and interpret technical drawings and ensure accurate fabrication
- Maintain quality control standards across all work produced
- Plan workloads, allocate resources, and monitor productivity
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Liaise with drivers, managers and office staff
- Oversee stock control
- equipment maintenance
Experience
- Leadership experience managing workshop teams
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools for maintenance and repair tasks
- Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to workshop operations
Desirable
- Welding/fabrication qualifications
- Experience in structural or architectural steel projects
- Forklift or other plant certifications
