Knutsford (Hybrid, 3 days in office) | Full-time | Permanent
At Speedy Freight, we're growing fast — and that means our finance team needs to be more than just good with numbers.
We're looking for a UK Finance Manager to take ownership of the financial management and reporting for our UK division, providing the insight and challenge that helps our leadership team make better commercial decisions.
This is a hands-on role where you'll have real influence. You'll manage the day-to-day finance cycle, lead month-end reporting and forecasting, support budgeting and profitability analysis, and work closely with divisional leaders to turn financial data into practical business decisions.
You'll also lead and develop two members of the finance team, while helping us improve processes, systems and ways of working as the business continues to scale.
- Take ownership of finance activities across the UK division.
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts covering P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Lead month-end and year-end processes, including journals, accruals and intercompany reconciliations.
- Prepare weekly and monthly finance packs, providing clear analysis and commentary for senior leadership.
- Own rolling forecasts and support the annual budgeting process.
- Analyse performance against budget and forecast, identifying risks, trends and opportunities.
- Work closely with divisional leaders on pricing, profitability, new business and investment decisions.
- Provide commercial insight and challenge assumptions to help improve performance and margins.
- Oversee billing, cash collection and credit control, highlighting risks and exposures.
- Manage, coach and develop two Assistant Accountants.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, automation and controls.
- Support and optimise the use of Microsoft Dynamics 365, ensuring data is accurate and systems are used effectively.
- Provide financial analysis and support for growth projects, new services and wider business initiatives.
We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, analytical and hands-on — someone who can get into the detail but also step back and understand what the numbers mean for the wider business.
You'll ideally have:
- ACA, CIMA or ACCA – part-qualified or qualified.
- 2–3+ years' experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Good attention to detail and organisation.
- The confidence to work independently, challenge constructively and make recommendations.
- A proactive, adaptable approach and a genuine desire to learn and develop.
We're not a traditional logistics business — and we're not looking for traditional finance people.
You'll join a growing, entrepreneurial business where finance has a genuine voice in commercial decision-making. You'll work closely with senior leaders, have the opportunity to improve how we operate and play an important role in helping the UK division scale successfully.
You'll also have access to:
- Mentoring and guidance from our CFO.
- Management Development Programme.
- Workshops and professional development opportunities.
- Support towards professional qualifications and certifications.
- The opportunity to make a visible impact in a growing business.
If you're looking for a Finance Manager role where you can do more than produce the numbers — and actually help shape what happens next — we'd love to hear from you
