We are seeking a skilled cutter to join our team. As a Cutter you will be responsible for cutting glass according to specifications, 4mm to 10mm thickness using mostly hand cutting benches, but sometimes using automatic cutting benches.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret work orders or blueprints to determine cutting requirements
- Measure and mark materials for cutting using measuring tools
- Operate hand tools and automatic cutting benches
- Ensure accuracy and quality of cuts by following established guidelines
- Inspect materials for any defects or imperfections before cutting
- Maintain and clean cutting equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance
- Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and deadlines
Qualifications:
- Must have previous experience in cutting and handling either by crane or hand-balling
- Mechanical knowledge and understanding of different types of material
- Proficient in using hand tools and automatic cutting bench for cutting purposes
- Ability to read and interpret work orders or blueprint accurately
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain precision in cutting tasks
- Good physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time
- Excellent hand-eye co-ordination and manual dexterity
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with others
- Competent with use of overhead crane to manoeuvre glass
