Overview
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Dance Teacher to join our vibrant Saturday team in Bakewell, Derbyshire. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and nurture pupils from age 3 to 12 through the art of dance, fostering creativity, confidence, and physical well-being. The ideal candidate will bring energy, passion, and have a strong background in teaching or training to teach dance, with a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment. If you thrive on motivating others and have a flair for inspiring , this position is perfect for you! Experience and knowledge of the IDTA syllabus is preffered but we are also popen to training you up if you have training via another recognised Dance Organisation. Qualifications aren't essential.
Responsibilities
- Deliver dynamic dance lessons tailored to various age groups and skill levels during Saturday sessions folowing the IDTA syllabus.
- Develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate creative movement, technique, and performance skills for our performances.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation, confidence, and enjoyment of dance
- Manage student behavior effectively through clear communication and supportive behavior management strategies
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with special educational needs or additional learning requirements
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their progress and inspire continuous improvement
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan special events or performances that showcase student talents
- A flair for choreography is essential.
Experience
- Proven experience teaching dance (or working as a support to dance teachers)
- You must have solid training in Ballet, Modern and Tap. Musical Theatre is a bonus, as is Street Dance and or Contemporary.
- Ideally you will have taken higher level dance examinations through an awarding body such as IDTA, ISTD or RAD
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage students, parents, and colleagues
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques suitable for a classroom setting
- Demonstrated ability to create inclusive lesson plans that promote creativity and physical activity
