Weekend Support Worker – Hayling Island, Hampshire (PO11)
£17.00 per hour | Saturdays and/or Sundays | 10:00am – 6:00pm

Our client is looking for a positive, enthusiastic Support Worker to join his small team. If you enjoy activities such as archery, golf, animals or getting out into the community, this could be a fantastic opportunity.
About Our Client
A is a friendly and intelligent 30-year-old gentleman who sustained an Acquired Brain Injury following a road traffic accident ten years ago.
He enjoys an active lifestyle and likes to spend time:
- Playing archery
- Learning golf
- Riding his tandem
- Helping to care for animals at his local farm
- Visiting the cinema
- Spending time with his pet cat
- Getting out and about in the community
A lives independently in his own adapted bungalow with support from his dedicated care team.
Although A is non-verbal, he communicates effectively using a text-to-speech communication device and enjoys engaging with those around him.
The Role
This is a varied, one-to-one support role where no two days are the same.
You will support A with all aspects of daily living, including:
- Personal care
- Preparing meals and drinks
- Supporting him with eating and drinking
- Walking indoors, where he can be unsteady
- Accessing the community using his powered wheelchair or mobility scooter
- Shopping and attending social activities
- Encouraging him to pursue his hobbies and rehabilitation goals
During quieter periods, you'll also help keep A's home running smoothly by carrying out light household duties such as tidying and laundry.
Like many people living with a brain injury, A can occasionally become frustrated or impatient. However, with consistency, patience and well-established routines, these situations are usually avoided.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Kind, patient and reliable
- Positive, sociable and encouraging
- Happy supporting someone to live an active and fulfilling life
- A confident driver, able to drive A in his automatic vehicle
- Comfortable helping care for A's pet cat (therefore no cat allergies)
Ideally, you will have:
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
- Previous care or support experience
- Experience supporting someone with an Acquired Brain Injury (desirable but not essential)
Previous experience working alongside therapists would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
An interest in A's hobbies would be a bonus, but enthusiasm, patience and a willingness to learn are much more important.
Training
Comprehensive paid training, shadow shifts and client-specific induction will be provided.
Please note that your initial training will take place during weekdays, so successful applicants will need some weekday availability during the first couple of months. Ongoing supervision, refresher training and occasional team meetings are also held on weekdays, and flexibility to attend these from time to time is essential.
Employment
Please note that you will be employed directly by our client via his Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection.
Meridian Case Management Services Ltd oversees the care package, providing ongoing clinical oversight, governance and case management support to both the client and the care team.
Applicants must have an unrestricted and ongoing right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role, either now or in the future. Applications from candidates who require current or future employer sponsorship will not be progressed.

Weekend shifts
- Saturdays: 10:00am – 6:00pm
- Sundays: 10:00am – 6:00pm
