Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking Assistant Chef / Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly kitchen team. The successful candidate will support the Head Chef in preparing and cooking high-quality food while helping to maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about cooking and wants to develop their skills in a busy pub kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef with daily food preparation and cooking.
- Prepare ingredients and ensure food is presented to a high standard.
- Support the smooth running of the kitchen during busy service periods.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and food safety.
- Help with stock rotation, storage, and inventory control.
- Wash, clean, and organise kitchen equipment and workstations.
- Ensure the kitchen remains clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Work as part of a team to deliver excellent food and service.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head Chef.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen is preferred but not essential.
- Passion for cooking and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices is an advantage.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
