Little Oaks is an exciting new independent day nursery opening in Tattenhall in January 2027, with 37 places for children aged 0 to 5. We are looking for an experienced practitioner to lead our baby room.
The first two years are hugely important in a child's development. We want our baby room to be calm, nurturing and responsive, giving babies the security to explore, build relationships and develop at their own pace.
Our approach will be very much child–led and babies will have opportunities throughout their day to explore the indoor and outdoor environment. The room lead will support us with our vision of a nature bsaed environment. You will have a real opportunity to shape our baby-room provision from the beginning, helping establish the environment and develop the rhythms & routines of the day.
The role
You will lead the baby room day to day while remaining fully hands-on with children. Specifically, you will:
- Lead high-quality practice with a clear focus on secure attachments, emotional wellbeing, responsive care and each baby's individual needs.
- Act as a key person and model warm, attuned interactions with babies and families.
- Support and guide the practitioners in your room.
- Plan and adapt provision around each baby's stage, temperament and interests.
- Deliver the EYFS appropriately for under twos through a calm, sensory and outdoor-facing approach.
- Maintain high standards of safe sleep, feeding and weaning, nappy care, hygiene and transitions, following nursery procedures and statutory guidance.
- Work with the Nursery Manager on ratios, routines and room organisation.
- Build trusting relationships with parents and carers.
- Follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures at all times.
What we are looking for
Essential
- An approved Level 3 Early Years qualification or above that enables you to count in EYFS staff-to-child ratios.
- Significant experience working with children aged 0 to 2.
- Relevant training in the care of babies, or willingness to complete this before opening.
- Sound understanding of attachment, infant development and the EYFS.
- Confidence leading practice within a room.
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and high professional standards.
Desirable
- Previous experience leading a baby room.
- Current Paediatric First Aid qualification.
- Experience supporting and developing other practitioners.
- Interest in outdoor learning and nature-led early years provision.
