4 hours per week (Fridays, 2–6 pm)
Opportunity for an experienced, mature and friendly tutor to join our after‑school Art Club in Liberton, Edinburgh.

We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic and creative Children’s Art Club Tutor to join our team. Our Art Club helps young learners build real artistic skills in a fun, relaxed and confidence‑boosting setting.
Although our adult programme follows four core modules — Drawing, Oil Pastels, Watercolours and Acrylics — the children’s curriculum mirrors these foundations in an age‑appropriate, engaging and playful way.
You must have good experience teaching or tutoring children, and be able to confidently demonstrate strong artwork in pencil, oil pastels, watercolours and acrylic paint.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach weekly art sessions for children aged 9–15 in a friendly, encouraging and inclusive manner.
- Deliver lessons based on our core modules:
- Drawing — shapes, shading, proportions, simple perspective
- Oil Pastels — colour blending, texture, highlights and shadows
- Watercolours — washes, layering, brush control
- Acrylics — colour mixing, simple techniques, creative expression
- Support each child individually, helping them grow in confidence and creativity.
- Maintain a positive, safe and welcoming classroom environment.
- Prepare and tidy materials before and after each session.
- Communicate warmly and professionally with parents when needed.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience teaching or working with children (schools, clubs, workshops, youth groups).
- Strong practical skills in drawing and painting (beginner–intermediate or higher).
- Ability to explain techniques clearly and patiently.
- A warm, encouraging teaching style that helps children feel relaxed and confident.
- Good classroom management and a calm, positive approach.

- Reliable, organised and able to plan engaging lessons.
- Passionate about helping children discover their artistic abilities.
- Enjoys working in a community‑focused, supportive environment.
