Job Purpose
We are looking for a skilled and proactive IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our IM&T team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our IT environment, ensuring the stability, security, and performance of critical systems and services.
As a senior technical escalation point, you will provide 3rd line support, manage both cloud and on-premises infrastructure, and work closely with colleagues to deliver infrastructure projects and continuous service improvements. You'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse technology estate including Azure, VMware, Microsoft 365, Windows and Linux servers, and enterprise networking technologies.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide expert 3rd line technical support, investigating and resolving complex infrastructure issues.
- Monitor server, network, and cloud services to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Install, maintain, and optimise Azure and on-premises server environments.
- Support and develop network infrastructure, ensuring secure and effective connectivity across the organisation.
- Implement security updates, patches, and remediation activities to maintain a secure IT environment.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and support remediation plans to reduce infrastructure risks.
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver infrastructure projects and service improvements.
- Perform root cause analysis for major incidents and contribute to preventative measures.
- Ensure IT services, systems, and processes meet operational standards, compliance requirements, and future business needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience working in a 3rd line IT Infrastructure Engineer or similar infrastructure support role.
- Strong experience supporting Microsoft Azure, VMware virtualisation, and enterprise server environments.
- Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including administration and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of networking technologies and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and SD-WAN environments.
- Experience managing Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Intune.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience performing root cause analysis and driving service improvements.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, together with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Desirable
- Microsoft Azure Administrator, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, CCNA, or similar certifications.
- Experience using infrastructure monitoring and vulnerability management tools.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, or NIST.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions including Veeam and Azure Backup.
