We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Groundworker / Labourer to join our team, working across sites throughout Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
This is a physically demanding, hands-on role, and we are particularly looking for someone who is strong, fit and comfortable carrying out a significant amount of hand digging. The ability and willingness to undertake manual excavation efficiently and safely will be a key part of the role.
The Role
Day-to-day duties will include:
- Hand digging and manual excavation – a key requirement of the role
- Digging trenches, foundations and other groundwork by hand where required
- Assisting with general groundworks and site preparation
- Moving and handling materials safely around site
- Loading and unloading materials, tools and equipment
- Assisting skilled trades and machine operators
- Keeping working areas clean, tidy and safe
- Using basic hand and power tools
- Supporting drainage, concreting, kerbing and other groundwork activities where required
- Following site health and safety procedures at all times
- Carrying out other general labouring duties as required
What We’re Looking For
The successful applicant will need to be:
- Physically strong, fit and capable of sustained manual work
- Confident and experienced with hand digging
- Hardworking with a good attitude towards physical work
- Reliable, punctual and willing to work as part of a team
- Able to follow instructions and work safely on busy construction sites
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Previous experience in groundworks, construction, civils or a similar labouring role would be an advantage.
Licences & Qualifications
Ideally, applicants will have:
- A full UK driving licence
- A valid CSCS card
- Relevant groundworks, construction or plant qualifications/tickets
Additional qualifications, licences or relevant experience should be included as part of your application and will be taken into consideration.
Pay
Pay is negotiable and will be based on experience, skills and relevant qualifications.
Applicants with proven groundworks experience, additional tickets or qualifications may be considered for a higher rate of pay.
Location
The role will involve working on sites across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands, so the ability to travel reliably to different sites is important.
