Overview:
Operate a range of saws to cut steel materials to customer specifications, complete job cards, label finished ordered and support safe warehouse operations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate overhead cranes safely, including correct slinging using magnets and straps
- Follow safe manual handling practices when handling steel
- Identify and select correct materials for cutting
- Read and complete job cards accurately
- Use the offcut system to support efficient stock control
- Operate saws safely and effectively, including blade changes and cleaning
- Check materials before cutting and inspect sample cuts for accuracy and quality
- Package and label completed orders correctly
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working area
- Work with warehouse colleagues to support daily shop floor operations
Skills and Requirements:
- Saw operating experience desirable but training can be provided
- Good attention to detail and ability to work measurements
- Ability to read job cards and follow instructions accurately
- Understanding of safe crane use and manual handling desirable
- Reliable approach and willingness to support the wider warehouse team
- The ideal candidate will be focused, reliable and able to work accurately in a fast paced production environment.
Shift details
39 hours per week
Monday - Thursday 6am - 2.10pm
Friday 6am - 1.10pm
Includes a 30min paid lunch break and a 10min unpaid break
Pay: £26,832.00 per year
