ABOUT VSPC
VSPC Limited is an ICAEW-registered practice of Chartered Accountants based in London Bridge. We offer the technical depth of a Big 4 environment with the client access and real career progression that only an ambitious independent practice can provide. You will work directly with a single partner, gaining close mentorship and visibility across a varied and growing portfolio.
THE ROLE
This is a generalist accountant and auditor role built for a technically grounded professional who wants to grow. You will plan and execute audit fieldwork, prepare year-end accounts, and handle tax compliance and you will deal with clients directly throughout. This is not a back-office position: our clients will know your name.
Key responsibilities:
- Planning and executing statutory audit fieldwork risk assessment, substantive testing, and analytical review through to completion
- Preparing year-end financial statements for limited companies, sole traders, partnerships, and LLPs under UK GAAP (FRS 102 / FRS 105)
- Preparing and reviewing corporation tax computations, self-assessment returns, and VAT returns
- Acting as the primary point of contact for clients: attending meetings, responding to queries, and managing expectations throughout engagements
- Maintaining accurate and well-documented working paper files to ICAEW practice standards
- Supporting the partner with advisory projects and correspondence as required
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Minimum 1 year of experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Hands-on mixed-portfolio experience covering accounts preparation, UK tax compliance, and audit
- Comfortable engaging directly and professionally with clients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with practice software (Xero, Sage, CCH, or equivalent)
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome applicants who hold or are working towards:
- ACA (ICAEW) fully or part-qualified
- ACCA fully or part-qualified
- ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) qualified members are particularly welcomed
- Equivalent overseas Chartered Accountant qualification
Note for ICAI-qualified and equivalent Chartered Accountants: If you hold a qualification equivalent to ACA including ICAI membership you will be expected to pursue the ACA (ICAEW) qualification upon joining. VSPC provides full study support to enable this.
