ROLE OVERVIEW:
- The Shoe Repairer / Cobbler plays an important role within the LANX Factory, responsible for the repair, restoration and refurbishment of high-quality footwear. This hands-on role requires care, precision and attention to detail, ensuring footwear is repaired to a high standard while maintaining its construction, appearance and quality. We are looking for someone with some or all of the skills and experience outlined below, with opportunities to develop further skills within the LANX workshop.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out a range of footwear repairs, including sole and heel replacement, stitching repairs, component replacement and general refurbishment.
- Assess footwear and determine the most appropriate repair method and materials.
- Carry out leather repairs, preparation, conditioning, polishing and refinishing.
- Perform stitching, roughing, adhesive application and bonding as required.
- Use specialist hand tools, machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure all repairs meet LANX quality standards, completing thorough final quality checks before dispatch.
- Maintain work areas, tools and equipment to a high standard of cleanliness, organisation and safety.
- Work efficiently to meet daily repair targets and turnaround times while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support continuous improvement within the repair workshop.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Experience in footwear repair, cobbling, shoemaking or a related craft environment.
- Knowledge of footwear construction, materials and repair techniques.
- Experience with sole and heel replacement, stitching and general footwear repairs.
- Experience with leatherwork, finishing, adhesive application and bonding is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
- Good manual dexterity and confidence using hand tools and machinery.
- Ability to assess damage and identify appropriate repair solutions.
- Ability to work efficiently, manage time and meet repair targets without compromising quality.
- Reliable, self-motivated and willing to learn and develop new skills.
- Team player with good communication and collaboration skills.
- Understanding of health and safety procedures and ability to perform practical, hands-on work.
REPORT TO:
- Report to Factory Lead and Factory Manager for all matters relating to footwear production and repairs.

WORKING DAY & HOURS:
- Full time
- Monday - Friday: 8am - 4.30pm
PLACE OF WORK:
- LANX HQ, Whalley, BB7 9YE
- Remote working not available in this role
ANNUAL LEAVE:
- Permitted 28-30 days annual leave per year
- The company operates annual factory shutdown periods during which employees are required to take part of their annual leave entitlement. The shutdown dates are communicated in advance each year.
MUST WORK:
- 1x day over our annual Sample Sale Weekend - usually March, dates tbc
- 2 additional days around Black Friday - usually end of Nov
- For the above additional days annual leave will be granted, or you can be paid 1.5 your normal day rate
