At Practice Plus Group Hospital Ilford, we believe in supporting our teams to thrive professionally while delivering outstanding patient care. We are looking for a dedicated Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our multidisciplinary theatre team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an HCPC or NMC registered practitioner who is passionate about perioperative care and enjoys working across anaesthetics, scrub and recovery. You'll be part of a supportive team focused on delivering safe, high-quality care for every patient, every day.
As our Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), you will play a key role in supporting patients throughout their perioperative journey. Working as part of the theatre team, you will ensure the highest standards of patient safety, comfort and care while contributing to the efficient running of theatre services.
As our Operating Department Practitioner, you will be:
- Delivering high-quality patient care within the perioperative environment.
- Rotating across Anaesthetics, Scrub and Recovery as required.
- Preparing and checking theatre and anaesthetic environments for daily operating lists.
- Supporting patient transfers, handovers and clinical documentation.
- Monitoring equipment, stock levels and consumables to ensure safe practice.
- Working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, nursing colleagues and wider multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintaining infection prevention and control standards.
- Participating in theatre safety checks, stock takes and governance activities.
- Supporting students and colleagues through supervision and teaching opportunities.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, professional standards and current legislation.
As an NMC‑registered Nurse or HCPC‑registered Operating Department Practitioner, you will also have:
- Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification UK experience across Anaesthetics, Scrub and PACU.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Experience maintaining accurate patient records.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- A flexible and positive approach to work.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Awareness of clinical governance and commitment to continuous professional development.
What you can expect in return:
- A salary of up to £48,500 depending on your skills and experience
- Work 37.5 hours over 4 days
