We are currently recruiting a Resident Companion for a 20 hr week day position within QME Care based in Evanthea House complex care setting in Kelso, Scottish Borders. As we continue to develop our unique caring model we are looking for dedicated and caring individuals to join our growing team. Evanthea House provides a homely yet unique setting for people aged 18+ with complex physical and emotional needs. You will be providing 1:1 support and reablement to people who require specialist care.

ROLE PURPOSE
Supporting the wellbeing of residents across QME Care, spending time together either 1:1 or in small groups to enrich the lives of our residents.
You will work alongside the wellbeing team, to ensure all residents are able to engage in social activities, whether this be 1-1 or in groups. You will also provide 1:1 support and engaging in befriending with allocated residents to participate in outings in the community.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To support residents who benefit from one-to-one support and activities.
- Supporting specifically residents who have less interaction with others in larger social groups.
- Assist with the planning and facilitation of monthly themed weeks and seasonal events.
- Support allocated residents in outings within the community.
- Maintain full and accurate records using the relevant systems and documentation, to monitor, record and evaluate individual and group participation and its success.
- To attend internal team and other meetings as required, such as the wellbeing team meeting.
- Must be willing to work flexibly including evenings and weekends.
- Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times and operate within all policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Experience in the field of Older Adults, Mental Health and/or Dementia is preferred but not essential.
- Experience in a caring role would be of benefit.
- Ability to work flexibly, adapting to the needs and issues of residents.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with residents though non-verbal methods.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening skills; able to communicate with a diverse range of people and organisations
- To be a team player with the ability to use own initiative. Including taking ownership of own workload.
Additional Notes:
Use of a car is required with business insurance to transport residents to engage in community activities.
