We are a new and ambitious provider of supported accommodation for young people aged 16+, committed to delivering safe, nurturing, and high-quality support that promotes independence and positive outcomes. Whilst we are a newly established organisation, our Senior Leadership Team brings nearly a decade of experience in supported accommodation, safeguarding, housing support, and working with vulnerable young people.
Our vision is to create environments where young people feel safe, supported, and empowered to develop the skills and confidence needed for adulthood.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and proactive Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in leading our 16+ Supported Accommodation service. You will play a key role in ensuring the service operates effectively, remains compliant with relevant regulations and standards, and delivers person-centred support that meets the needs of young people.
As Deputy Manager, you will be supporting the Registered Manager in order to provide day-to-day leadership to staff, oversee support delivery, monitor safeguarding practices, and ensure that risk assessments, support plans, and care planning documentation are completed and maintained to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in supported accommodation, residential childcare, leaving care, or supported housing who is looking to further develop their leadership career.
Duties
- Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the service.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate Support Workers to deliver consistently high standards of care and support.
- Ensure all young people receive person-centred support tailored to their individual needs and goals.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and regular review of support plans, pathway plans, care plans, and placement plans.
- Ensure comprehensive risk assessments are completed, regularly reviewed, and appropriately implemented by staff.
- Promote positive outcomes for young people in education, employment, training, health, wellbeing, and independent living.
- Maintain a strong culture of safeguarding, ensuring staff understand and follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately.
- Respond effectively to safeguarding incidents, risk concerns, and challenging situations.
- Conduct staff supervisions, mentoring, performance management, and support professional development.
- Ensure accurate record keeping, incident reporting, and compliance documentation is maintained.
- Work collaboratively with Local Authorities, Social Workers, Personal Advisors, healthcare professionals, and other partner agencies.
- Support with audits, quality assurance, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within 16+ Supported Accommodation, Residential Childcare, Leaving Care, Supported Housing, or Children's Services.
- Experience in a senior support worker, team leader, or deputy manager role.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and young people, including exploitation, missing from home protocols, and risk management.
- Experience developing and reviewing risk assessments, care plans, support plans, and individual support programmes.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff teams.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and administrative skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and young person-centred approaches.
- Ability to build positive professional relationships with stakeholders and external agencies.
Desirable
- Level 3 or Level 5 qualification in Children and Young People's Services, Residential Childcare, Health & Social Care, Leadership & Management, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Ofsted standards and supported accommodation regulations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
