Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Carpet Fitter to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining carpets in residential and commercial spaces. Responsibilities
- Measure spaces accurately to determine the amount of carpet needed for each project
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying necessary underlayments or adhesives
- Cut and fit carpets using hand tools such as knives, scissors, and measuring tapes to ensure seamless installation
- Use power tools safely to secure carpets with tack strips, staples, or adhesives
- Read and interpret schematics, plans, or technical drawings to follow project specifications precisely
- Perform minor carpentry tasks as needed to prepare doorways or thresholds for carpet installation
- Conduct quality checks to ensure carpets are properly stretched, secured, and finished to high standards
- Maintain a clean work environment by removing debris and excess materials after each project
Skills
- Proven construction experience with a focus on flooring or related trades
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as knives, scissors, hammers, and tape measures
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques relevant to flooring installation
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately
- Experience with construction painting is a plus for finishing touches around installed areas
- Skilled in operating power tools safely and effectively on job sites
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving abilities
