The Role
Join our brilliant Team at this Multi-Award-Winning Farm Shop. Many have been with us for a good number of years, which gives the working environment very much a 'family' feel.
This is a brand new position, managing the team and the shop floor five days a week, whilst supporting the Retail Manger who is ultimately responsible for all retail department performance.
The purpose of this role is to keep the shop aesthetics & customer spend across the shop site, where we want it to be.
That means being knowledgeable yourself about the products we stock, so that you can pass on the knowledge to the Team and to the customer.
It is therefore only suitable for someone with an existing detailed knowledge of British cheese, & dairy, fresh and chilled produce, fruit & veg, artisan bakery and high end artisanal ambient products.
The role is unsuitable for someone with a corporate background, given the nuances of independent business.
Candidates with a genuine understanding and passion for seasonal and sustainably produced food, gift & plant products, will be at a distinct advantage for this role.
The successful candidate & their Team will deliver:
- Uncompromisingly brilliant customer service
- Skilled margin Management
- Relentless stock Management
- Firm but fair team management, nurturing the brilliant ones, always following things through with the others
- Polite sales Management
- Well-considered purchasing
We already have a Retail Manager and an Assistant Retail Manager, you will sit in between them, progressing to become Retail Manager in two years time, when the current RM moves up to become GM.
This new role requires at least ten years’ experience at a managerial level, ideally in an independent artisanal food retail establishment.
The position is very much operational on the shop floor, serving customers, so first and foremost you will have razor sharp attention to detail and will keep our unique and aesthetically pleasing retail spaces looking perfect for each new customer arrival of the day.
Remuneration
In addition to staff discounts in store (20%) and from the kitchen (50%), a starting salary of up to £35,000 for a 40 hour week, depending on the ideal candidate.

Introducing Jolly Nice
Jolly Nice was born out of a love for delicious food, regenerative farming and the need for change. We provide a key platform for locally sourced produce. Supporting farmers, growers, artisans and micro businesses, that share our vision for a brighter future of food resilience, community and economy. With nature friendly farming at the centre of our ethos.
Founded by a farming family, our multi-award winning Farm shop, Kitchen, Cafe & Bar and cutting edge Drive Through in the heart of the Cotswolds, halfway between Cirencester and Stroud.
We’ve grown organically, and what was once a derelict petrol station is now a handsome hotchpotch of wooden buildings, locally crafted yurts, green barns and plenty of outdoor space, with a few miniature donkeys dotted about.
Rebecca Wilson, our Founder and Managing Director, was once a 'proper' farmer herself and saw first-hand the problems that intensive industrial farming inflicted upon our environment, animals, communities and health. She built the business from the ground up with the purpose of providing a much needed route to market for farmers and producers that shared our values, committing to pay a fair price so we can work towards healthy, more resilient food systems and a sustainable food economy.
Rebecca’s daughter Harriet found a love for making delicious food in her teens and went on to create our award winning ice cream using organic milk from her father’s pasture fed herd of traditional rare breed Shorthorn cows, churned with the best ingredients she could get her hands on. Our family recipes and ethos for quality continue to live through the business and we now have a brilliant team of chefs producing an exceptional range of products, from scratch, every day.
Jolly Nice now represents a smorgasbord of fantastic, diverse, local, independent, artisan, seasonal, free range, organically grown, zero dig, regeneratively farmed, pasture fed, biodynamic, Bcorp, small batch, hand crafted, wild, foraged, and award winning produce.
