Purpose of the role:
The Head of ALS will be responsible for working collaboratively with the Director of Student Services to design and implement the SEND strategy. Their primary purpose is to ensure all learners requiring support can access the curriculum, overcome barriers to learning, and achieve their full potential.
This role involves identifying students' needs, coordinating with external agencies, overseeing individual support plans (including EHCPs), and ensuring absolute compliance with relevant funding, inspection, and SEND legislation. The Head of ALS serves as a key point of contact for students, parents, and staff, championing a college-wide culture of inclusivity and accessibility.
This job role is full-time, based at Weybridge site but travelling to Ashford as needed, it is not suitable for home-working.
Key Leadership & Management Responsibilities:
High Needs Support: Lead the ALS team, to design and implement a highly effective support model to meet the needs of all students.-
Provision Growth: Work collaboratively with the SEND team as ALS provision joins them in the new Vickers building.

Exam Access Arrangements (EAA): Lead exams access arrangements coordination. Ensure the college is fully compliant with JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) regulations, overseeing the robust assessment, documentation, and implementation of EAA to guarantee equitable support for all eligible learners during assessments.

Collaboration: Work proactively with college curriculum and support services teams to maximise student retention, achievement, and progression.
