We are seeking a new Head of Finance (HoF to succeed our long‑standing HoF who is retiring. This is a hands‑on role within a small finance team (HoF plus bookkeeper), ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and a stable, well‑structured working rhythm.
The successful candidate will provide strategic financial guidance, ensure robust financial controls, and support the continued growth and profitability of the Group.
Job Description
- Lead and manage the finance function.
- Prepare quarterly management accounts and other financial reports.
- Support colleagues with commercial decision-making and performance analysis.
- Develop and maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Drive efficiencies and improvements.
- Manage statutory reporting requirements and liaise with external accountants. (The payrolls are run externally. A German firm of accountants is used to prepare the German statutory accounts).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial legislation and accounting standards. Provide basic advice on tax, VAT, allowable expenses, etc.
- Provide advice on any capital acquisitions.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong Excel skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence colleagues. Friendly and approachable.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organisational ability.
- Willing to work at detail/transactional level
- Working knowledge of UK tax, VAT and HMRC rules for expenses.
- Authorised to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Experience working with Quickbooks.
- German speaker would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Availability for occasional UK/German travel.
Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
