We are seeking an organised and proactive Purchasing Assistant / Purchasing Coordinator to support our double glazing manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring materials are ordered, tracked, and available to meet production requirements while maintaining accurate purchasing records and supporting supplier relationships.
This is an important role within the business, requiring strong organisational, communication, and administrative skills to help ensure the smooth flow of materials through our fabrication facility.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Coordination
- Raise and manage purchase orders for glass, profiles, hardware, reinforcement, consumables, and other manufacturing materials.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules, pricing, and availability.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers.
- Support the monitoring of supplier performance relating to quality, lead times, and delivery reliability.
- Obtain quotations and compare pricing to support cost-effective purchasing decisions.
Material Planning & Scheduling
- · Monitor stock levels and assist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- · Track material requirements against production demand and raise orders as required.
- · Coordinate incoming deliveries to ensure materials are available when needed.
- · Assist in identifying potential material shortages and communicate any risks to the relevant departments.
- · Support the production and planning teams by providing accurate information on material availability.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier records.
- Produce reports on stock levels, supplier performance, material shortages, and purchasing activity.
- · Ensure purchasing activities comply with company procedures and quality standards.
- · Provide general administrative support to the purchasing and operations teams as required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a purchasing, buying, material planning, or scheduling role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and relationship-building skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Excel and MRP systems.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Desirable
- Experience within the window, door, glazing, fenestration, or construction manufacturing sector.
- Working knowledge of SAGE for stock control and purchasing

Pay: £24,420.00-£30,000.00 per year
