The successful applicant will be a General Radiologist with an interest in General and Gynaecological Imaging .
Royal Cornwall Hospital is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It serves a population of around 570,000 people, a figure that increases significantly with visitors during the busiest times of the year.
If a newly appointed consultant, the successful applicant will be eligible to apply for additional study leave to undertake up to 3 months additional subspecialty radiology training to meet specific learning objectives that are of benefit to the applicant and the Clinical Imaging Directorate at RCHT. There may be a requirement to participate the on call rota during this period of additional study leave.
The successful candidate will join a team of 33 Consultants providing a wide range of general and specialist radiology services and will be expected to contribute to the general radiology on call service. First on call is provided by Peninsula Radiology On Call, a network Registrar delivered service.

We have close links to medical specialist services in the Southwest Peninsula and beyond. Serving local population and thousands of visitors to Cornwall each year, poses a number of unique healthcare challenges.
Radiology services are based at Royal Cornwall Hospital, however, the department will support Consultants working general radiology sessions at community sites if appropriate. Home workstations are available to facilitate more flexible working. For most consultants on a standard full time contract job plans include one day a week for flexible SPA/off work (subject to job planning).
Provision with Consultant Colleagues of appropriate Subspecialty Radiology services to the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.
The provision of general elective and emergency radiology services to the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.
Support and ensure the efficient functioning of the Clinical Imaging department and service
Out-of-hours responsibilities, including weekend working and participation in the Consultant on-call rota.
Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
Contribution to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity.
Participation in medical audit, the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes and in CPD.
Managerial responsibilities where appropriate.
To comply with the IR(ME)R 2000.
