Job Description
High Ridge Training is expanding and seeking an experienced industry professional who is interested in taking the next step in their career and becoming an Apprenticeship Tutor.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with occupational experience within Health & Safety, Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Supply Chain, Warehousing or Logistics who would like to use their industry knowledge and experience to develop the next generation of professionals.
Previous teaching experience is not required.
We are looking for someone with strong occupational knowledge and a passion for supporting and developing others. Full training and support will be provided to help you develop your teaching, coaching and assessment skills.
As part of your development, you will undertake the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship and receive structured early-career support.
You will initially work with a reduced learner caseload while developing your teaching skills and occupational delivery knowledge, progressing towards managing your own caseload of apprentices.
Areas of Delivery
Depending on your occupational background, you may support apprenticeship delivery across areas including:
- Safety, Health and Environment
- Lean Manufacturing
- Continuous Improvement
- Supply Chain and Warehousing
- Transport and Logistics
- Manufacturing
You are not expected to have experience across all of these areas. We are particularly interested in applicants with strong occupational expertise within one or more relevant sectors.
Main Duties
- Develop the skills required to deliver high-quality apprenticeship teaching and coaching
- Deliver remote and on-site training to apprentices with support from experienced colleagues
- Build towards managing an allocated caseload of learners
- Provide 1-to-1 and group teaching, coaching and learner support
- Support learners to develop their Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
- Complete learner progress reviews alongside employers
- Develop lesson plans and learning resources appropriate to individual learner needs
- Maintain accurate and timely learner records
- Develop an understanding of Gateway and End Point Assessment requirements
- Build positive and professional relationships with employers
- Participate fully in your own Learning and Skills Teacher apprenticeship
- Participate in Continuous Professional Development, mentoring and standardisation activities
- Follow all Quality Assurance and Risk Management systems
- Adhere to Safeguarding, Prevent, Health & Safety and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion requirements
- Attend teaching, learning and team meetings as required
Qualifications, Experience and SkillsEssential
- Strong occupational experience within Health & Safety, Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Logistics or a related technical environment
- Relevant Level 3 qualification or substantial occupational/industry experience within your specialist area
- Experience of supporting, coaching, mentoring, supervising or developing colleagues within the workplace
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Confidence using digital systems and technology
- Ability to work independently as part of a home-based role
- Willingness to travel to employer sites for face-to-face delivery
- Commitment to completing the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher Apprenticeship
- Flexible, adaptable and enthusiastic approach to learning and professional development
Desirable
- Health & Safety experience or relevant Health & Safety qualifications
- Lean, Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement experience
- Manufacturing experience
- Supply Chain, Warehouse or Logistics experience
- Experience delivering workplace training, inductions or toolbox talks
- Experience mentoring or coaching colleagues
- Maths and English at Level 2/GCSE Grade C/4 or above
Please note: This opportunity is specifically designed to support an experienced industry professional to transition into teaching. Applicants with extensive substantive teaching experience or an existing Level 5 or higher teaching qualification may not meet the eligibility requirements associated with the development programme attached to this role.
