Starting 20th July for 6 weeks, 25hrs a week.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting young people through mentoring, educational activities, and positive engagement. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of 16-20 year olds, fostering their personal development and well-being. The role requires a genuine interest in working with young people, especially those who may benefit from specialised support such as special education needs programmes.
Responsibilities
- Plan, support, organise, and deliver engaging activities tailored to the interests and developmental needs of young people.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to support behavioural development and build self-confidence.
- Support young people with special educational needs by adapting activities and providing personalised assistance.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure holistic support for young people.
- Monitor progress and behaviour, maintaining accurate records of participation and development.
- Promote positive relationships through effective communication and active listening.
- Assist in organising community events or programmes aimed at youth engagement.
Skills
- Proven experience in teaching or working with children and young people.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to motivate and inspire trust.
- Knowledge of youth work principles and best practices for engaging diverse groups of young people.
- Experience working with children requiring special education or additional support is desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan activities that are both educational and enjoyable.
- Compassionate approach with outstanding communication skills, capable of building rapport with young people from varied backgrounds.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating initiative independently.

Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 6 weeks
Pay: £14.90-£15.00 per hour
