We are looking for a motivated and skilled Mobile App Developer to join our Scrum development team. You will help develop our Flutter-based mobile applications, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions that directly support our customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Scrum development team to design, implement, and optimise solutions and improvements for FleetCheck's mobile applications
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Flutter/Dart code with minimal supervision.
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in existing mobile app code.
- Write and maintain unit and widget tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to mobile development best practices across the team.
- Share knowledge on mobile app functionality and implementation to support colleagues in code review and QA of mobile features.
- Collaborate with IT and CX teams to improve support of the mobile apps, providing technical guidance and insight.
- Investigate and help resolve bugs raised by customers or colleagues, escalating where appropriate and keeping originators informed of progress.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Stay current with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in mobile development.
- Be flexible, operate as a proactive member of the Scrum team, and contribute to other activities when required.

- Act in a courteous, professional, and ethical manner in all interactions with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Advise line manager/management team on matters relating to workload, technical challenges, and work progress.
- Contribute positively to improvement initiatives and propose innovative solutions.
- Comply with FleetCheck's values, service levels, policies, and legislative requirements.
Required Skills
- 2+ years professional experience in software development, with more than 1 year’s experience years of hands-on Flutter/Dart development.
- Strong understanding of and experience with:
- Flutter and Dart, including state management approaches (Riverpod).
- Mobile UI/UX principles and platform-specific guidelines (iOS & Android).
- RESTful API integration and consumption.
- Git and GitHub.
- Solid understanding of mobile app testing, including unit and widget tests.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on moderately complex tasks.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Good knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Preferred Skills
- Experience publishing and maintaining apps on the Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps (e.g. Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Codemagic).
- Experience with Firebase or similar mobile backend services.
- Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms.
- Understanding of automated UI/integration testing (e.g., Flutter integration tests, Appium).
Rewards and additional information
- Base salary will be in the region of £35,000-60,000k pa.
- The normal contractual working week is 37.5 hours; a standard day is 7.5 hours.
- The work pattern is fixed hours of 9.00am to 5.00pm with 0.5 hour lunch break.
- The annual holiday entitlement based on the above working pattern is 25 days – rising to 28 days with length of service.
- 1 additional days holiday per month on a Friday (FleetCheck Friday), pro rata entitlement for part time employees.
- Contributory pension.
- Staff can work in a hybrid pattern, Monday to Wednesday being office based; with the option to work from home on Thursdays and Fridays if agreed with their line manager. Note that the FleetCheck offices are not serviced by public transport. You will need a full clean driving licence and a car to work here.
