About Imuli Takeaway
Imuli Takeaway is a growing independent food business in Milton Keynes, serving bold and authentic African and Southern African-inspired food with a British touch.
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen and takes pride in cleanliness, food quality and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs with daily food preparation
- Wash, peel, chop and prepare vegetables and other ingredients
- Assist with portioning and preparing meat, chicken and other menu items
- Help prepare takeaway and delivery orders during service
- Maintain high standards of food presentation and portion control
- Keep kitchen workstations clean, organised and sanitised
- Wash pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment when required
- Receive, organise and correctly store deliveries
- Check stock levels, dates and food rotation
- Follow Imuli's food hygiene, allergen, health and safety procedures
- Support the wider kitchen team during busy periods
- Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Committed to excellent food hygiene and cleanliness
- Flexible and willing to help wherever required
- Able to work evenings and weekends when required
- Passionate about food and willing to learn
Previous kitchen, takeaway, restaurant or catering experience is preferred, but training can be provided to the right person.
Experience or an interest in African/Zimbabwean/Southern African cuisine would be an advantage.
