Job Summary:
Trinity Manor Care Home is seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The Kitchen Assistant will support the kitchen staff in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen, helping to prepare meals that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of our residents. This role requires someone who is hardworking, has a positive attitude, and is committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of meals, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cooking ingredients as directed by the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
- Meal Service: Support the serving of meals to residents, ensuring that food is presented attractively and in accordance with dietary requirements.
- Cleaning: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Ensure all surfaces and floors are kept clean and sanitized.
- Stock Management: Assist with the receipt and storage of deliveries, ensuring all stock is rotated and stored correctly to minimize waste.
- Health & Safety: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any kitchen hazards or equipment faults to the Kitchen Supervisor.
- Waste Disposal: Responsible for the proper disposal of waste in line with environmental and health regulations.
- Resident Interaction: Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner when delivering meals, ensuring their needs and preferences are met.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is preferred, though training will be provided.
- Skills: Basic food preparation skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Personal Attributes: Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team. A positive attitude and a passion for providing excellent service to residents.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Certifications: Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential.
Working Hours:
This is a full-time position with shifts including weekends and holidays. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the care home.
