Role Overview
The Pro Sport Designer will play a pivotal role in creating high-quality, innovative kit and apparel designs for O’Neills’ portfolio of professional sports teams and partners. The designer will work closely with the account management and product development teams to deliver bespoke, on-brand solutions for our clients across football, rugby, and other professional sports. The role, in addition to the design work, will require travel and the ability to present to our pro sport partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design bespoke kits, training wear, and off-field apparel for pro teams, ensuring all creative output is commercially focused and consistent with brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with account managers and development colleagues to respond to club briefs, develop pitch concepts, and deliver client presentations.
- Work directly with partner clubs and teams, understanding their history, colours, and identity to deliver relevant and engaging designs.
- Produce all CADs to high level of precision with strong attention to detail
- Coordinate regularly with the product development team to ensure designs are compatible with developed blocks
- Remain up to date with sports design trends and innovation in garment technology, materials, and graphic treatments.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines, delivering work on time and to brief.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in sportswear, apparel, or fashion design—ideally in a pro sports context.
- Experience working with clubs or brands on bespoke teamwear/kit projects.
- Understanding of garment construction, print processes, and technical packs.
- Creative, commercially minded, and detail oriented.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to present ideas to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
- A passion for sport and an understanding of what drives teams and supporters
Desirable:
- Previous experience working directly for a sports team, rights holder, or sportswear brand.
- Knowledge of current football, rugby and wider sports kit trends.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
