Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Transport and Logistics Manager to oversee and optimise our supply chain operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transportation activities, supervising logistics teams, and ensuring efficient warehouse and shipping processes. Duties
- Oversee daily transportation operations, including shipping, receiving, and distribution activities.
- Manage logistics teams, providing supervision and guidance to ensure high performance standards.
- Utilise transportation management systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and ERP platforms such as AS400 to coordinate logistics activities effectively.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to optimise freight costs and service levels.
- Monitor profit & loss statements related to logistics operations, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at process optimisation within the supply chain.
- Supervise warehouse activities, including inventory management, forklift operation, and warehouse organisation.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during shipping & receiving processes.
- Analyse supply chain data to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and develop strategic solutions.
- Lead projects focused on process improvement and system integration to enhance overall logistics performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in logistics management, including supervising teams within a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles, transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), and ERP platforms such as AS400.
- Experience working with 3PL providers and managing complex transportation networks.
- Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures and warehouse safety protocols.
- Demonstrated ability in process improvement methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analytical skills with the ability to interpret profit & loss data for operational decision-making.
- Organised with excellent leadership skills to supervise staff effectively and drive team performance.
- Relevant qualifications in logistics or supply chain management are desirable but not essential. Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
