About Us
At Alpha, we’re a kind and thoughtful organisation that helps older people live independently for longer. Guided by our values of Bold & Brave, Compassionate, Honest, and Positive, we’re committed to creating homes where residents feel safe, supported, and valued.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Asset Team Operative (Plumber/Multiskilled) to join our team. You’ll play a key role in keeping our developments safe, comfortable, and well maintained — carrying out plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance while supporting wider building and investment works.
You’ll deliver high-quality service across responsive and planned repairs, cyclical maintenance, and void property refurbishments, ensuring our residents enjoy a safe and positive living environment.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead and carry out plumbing installations, repairs, and refurbishments, including bathrooms, kitchens, pipework, and fittings.
-
Complete responsive and planned maintenance tasks, diagnosing faults and providing effective solutions.
-
Undertake painting and decorating (including communal areas) and general making good as part of multiskilled duties.
-
Carry out property inspections, identifying issues early to prevent costly or disruptive repairs.
-
Ensure all work complies with Health and Safety standards and Alpha’s internal policies.
-
Maintain accurate records of all work completed and materials used.
-
Provide emergency cover as needed, including out-of-hours response to urgent repairs.
-
Deliver a customer-focused approach that reflects Alpha’s values and commitment to resident wellbeing.
-
Work collaboratively with contractors and team members to deliver an efficient repairs service.
About You
You’ll be a skilled plumber with a proactive, solution-focused attitude and a commitment to providing excellent service. You work well independently, manage your time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.
Essential Requirements
-
City and Guilds/NVQ qualification in Plumbing (or equivalent).
-
Experience working in housing, facilities, or construction environments.
-
Strong understanding of Health & Safety and building safety regulations.
-
Proven record of excellent customer service and problem-solving ability.
-
IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
-
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Desirable
-
CSCS card.
-
Experience supporting external contractors.
-
Knowledge of independent living environments and relevant safety standards (asbestos, fire safety, legionella, etc.).
Personal Qualities
-
Compassionate, respectful, and professional approach to residents and colleagues.
-
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to take initiative.
-
Committed to continuous learning and personal development.
-
Embraces equality, diversity, and inclusion in every aspect of work.
Our Values
-
Bold & Brave – We create spaces for belonging and encourage everyone to learn, grow, and excel.
-
Compassionate – We put people at the heart of everything we do.
-
Honest – We are open, inclusive, and value each other’s opinions.
-
Positive – We stay resilient and focused on achieving great outcomes.
If you’re a skilled plumber who takes pride in their work and wants to contribute to a caring and values-led organisation, we’d love to hear from you.
